Harry Connick Jr. - What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

This song is extremely romantic to me. I bought the Harry Connick Jr. CD with this song.
I remember dreaming about this song...it has some nostalgia in the music. It was Christmas time. I had short curly red hair. was it 6 years ago? Maybe.

I wish all of you a wonderful new year.
For those of you who struggled and had an awful 2011.
I pray 2012 will be a relief and the start to a lot of good things.
Full of peace, love and hope.
Keep your dreams.
Lots of love,
Isabelle.

See you in the New Year :)

Merry Christmas! Our past few days and Christmas Eve diner

We saw the lights at Thanksgiving point and saw Santa's reindeer.

The kids were so exited to see them. They are very pretty animals and they have a soft fur.

Then, we had some snack at their food area. Potato soup, quiche and chili fries.
It was soooo cold outside.

Tonight is our French Christmas Eve diner.
Ham, Roasted potatoes, Roasted carrots and turnip.
Pigs in a blanket.
This is pretty much my portion. I will have more veggies though.
Everything is so good and tasty!

I made some Pain aux raisins, a French pastry. Santa will be spoiled.

I wish you to all a Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus!

Lots of love!
The Thornton family

Egg nog French toast recipe. The best recipe!!! To die for! *12 days of Christmas*

One of my friend on Facebook said she made some Egg nog French toast and i thought...Hmmm i should try...
I made up my own recipe. Very simple, with things you already had in the fridge.
You have to make this!!
Christmas morning, For a special diner...Before egg nog is not in the stores anymore.

Frenchy's Egg nog French toast recipe.

5 eggs,
1 cup Egg nog (low fat, Kroger)
Bread (Grandma Emilies's Old fashion white bread)
1 teaspoon butter for the pan,
powdered sugar,
Maple Syrup of choice.

Beat the 5 eggs and Egg nog together.

Melt a little bit of butter in your pan on Medium heat.
Dip your Slice of bread in Egg mixture, turn it once. let the extra liquid drip out.
Place in pan and cook with a lid on until lightly brown.
Flip your bread on the other side and cook other side too with lid on.

When cooked, place on your plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar, add your Maple syrup.

Makes 10 AMAZING French toasts.

Gingerbread man tradition *12 days of Christmas*

This is a fun one to do around Christmas. The gingerbread dough is from Pillsbury. It is pretty good and easy since it is already made for you. I use a big Gingerbread man cookie cutter.

350 for 12 minutes. Turn the cookie sheet around half way for even cooking of the cookies.

Icing in plastic bags. I cut the tip. Very easy for the kids to use.

Mini M&Ms, Holiday Nonpareils and cinnamon candy.

The kids always have fun decorating and eating them...

Getting Creative: Super Mario Cakes For the Perfect Birthday Party

Guest blogger :
Melissa from http://www.blogcontentguild.com wrote this great article for my readers.

What's the most important part of a good birthday party? Well that point could probably be argued for hours but most will agree that a good birthday can often separate a memorable birthday shindig from a forgettable birthday sham. When you're trying to think of how you want your child's cake to look, don't be afraid to think outside of the box. For themed parties, there are Super Mario cakes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cakes and Dora the Explorer Cakes. For sports fans, you might want to consider baking a confection that commemorates your little athlete's favorite professional jersey. The possibilities are really endless. Here are a couple of my favorite ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Combining toys and cakes might seem like an unappetizing proposition but there is a way to make it work. A lego cake is a creative and delicious option that your party animals will probably love. It's also a pretty easy recipe. First, freeze a few various sized poundcakes. Then place various sized marshmallows on top of the poundcakes to create the interlocking tops of the lego pieces. Coat the cakes and marshmallows in bright powdered sugar frosting and let sit for an hour. Voila! You've got a delicious alternative that your kids probably haven't seen at every other party they've been to this year.
Using fruit in your recipe is great for two reasons. Fresh, brightly colored fruit can add a lot of pizzaz to your child's cake and also provides a healthy alternative to just dumping candy all over your creation. One super fast healthier option is to use yellow cake mix to create the cake layers, fill the gap with vanilla pudding and use strawberry icing to coat the outside. Garnish the top of the cake with strawberries and vanilla wafers and you've got a cake your kids will go gaga over.
The key to creating the perfect cake is to think outside the box. Don't rush into the endeavor planning or making the same old yellow cake with chocolate icing. Put some thought into your creation and help make your child's birthday one they'll never forget.
