Gestational diabetes

I was pretty mad and it is normal. They tell you that in the Diabetes class. I find out that i have Gestational Diabetes. I thought...Not fair. I don't drink caffeine, pop, junk food (yeah, no burgers), alcohol, no medication. I am a pretty healthy and a disciplined person. How on earth did i get diabetes?
Well, they tell you in the class. It is hereditary...and on the top of my morning sickness. Still going on at 7 and 1 week pregnant.
The only thing i noticed was my face, hands and feet swollen. It is really a silent killer...
So now i got it under control...after freaking out because it is so scary.
I have a very strict diet (The hardest ever. Even for me who is very disciplined). You have to measure your food and food elements. I eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks. Exercise (walk 30 minutes a day).
Poke myself to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. Ok ...but really not enjoyable...Yuck...I even dream about it...Yuck.
I got it under control and it feels very good. It is automatic. You exercise, eat right. Your blood is balanced.
Instant gratification.  The first few times were scary because i would fell my poke test. Then i passed...one test after another...Stress highers your blood sugar. I think it took me some time also to relax.
I feel blessed because i can control it and the knowledge about Gestational diabetes is amazing. think about that. 100 years ago...none of all of this diet and poking...Gosh.
So if you have some Diabetes recipe or experience you want to leave in the comments, i would appreciate it. Right now...I still can't believe i can't eat any deserts like i used to. The portions are like tiny! Or i can't believe how much i ate before!
I know that some of you don't believe in God. Like my Dad and brothers. I have to tell you, the day i find out i had gestational Diabetes, the sisters from my church showed up. Like that. Out of the blue. I was a mess. With not a lot of support. Horrible. Then, they came and i felt loved. God send this little miracle in one of the worst time of my life. I am surely grateful. Can't deny it. It was a miracle. I got a Priesthood blessing too. It reaffirmed what i had felt for few months now. I have to stay patient and the tribulations will pass.

Thanks to all of you and your support. I know you care. It makes a big difference.
My friends in blog land and Facebook make a big difference in my life.

I was thinking few days ago...well, i am not one of those blogs you visit and cry over the nice house and perfect life. Gosh. LOL

I just got a Turkey. A fresh one. So i can freeze the left over...I am very exited for Thanksgiving.
XOXO
Have a super week-end!!!!
Give me some time to say hi to all of you.

I have gestational diabetes too. I found out around week 10. This is my 4th baby and I've never had it before. It's a pain in the bum, but this is the best I've ever eaten during a pregnancy. Good luck to you & I hope all goes well :)

You are right - a hundred years ago and it would have been a different story. Praise God for the advancement in medicine and that you have this under control. It is a wonderful thing that He gives us just what we need when we need it. So wonderful to have those friends.

Oh boy, you poor thing. I remember I had to take that test twice. I was so relieved when it came out negative. You take care of yourself, which I know you will. Best wishes. My son's BF has juvenile diabetes, let me just say that is a tough tough thing to have. He is doing well with it, but his Mom is on top of it. I worry when he goes off to college if he will be as responsible, I sure hope so!

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I know it "just happens". It sounds like you have it under control and are taking the right precautions. I will pray for you and the baby.
I don't have one of "those" blogs either, hah, I'm not sure I even like those. ((((((HUGS)))))

A friend of mine who recently had her second baby was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, even though she didn't have it with her first.
You are right....100 years ago, probably even 60 years ago, there wouldn't be a chance!
At least gestational diabetes isn't permanent; after delivery it goes away. Take care! ;-)

My friend has diabetes year round....she tells me how she can't wait til her pregnancy is over so she at least have a few more things on her diet than the very restricted one she is limited to now. She is at week 19 and literally counting the days ;P

Rest assured that when you deliver, your diabetes will subside.....and you can have something sweet to celebrate your new little Life :)
I'm so happy you are feeling healthy and empowered right now :)

I feel so bad for you...especially the poking and testing part. The good part is you are eating well and you are going to have a healthy baby!

Wishing you wonderful Thanksgiving festivities!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. There's not alot of things I'm sure of in this world, but God's love is something I am sure of. Keep praying my friend, and I hope your Thanksgiving is a peaceful one.

I consider this is a outlook. I quite frequently interrelate with people who more readily utter merely what they expect i plan to examine. Fine then acceptably built! I shall turn back to your blog certainly !

As a final point , permit me thank you for your tolerance with my English as (I am persuaded you have figured this at this time ,), English is not my head tongue as a result I am utilizing Google Translate to shape out how to note down what I truly want to tell.
