I was pretty mad and it is normal. They tell you that in the Diabetes class. I find out that i have Gestational Diabetes. I thought...Not fair. I don't drink caffeine, pop, junk food (yeah, no burgers), alcohol, no medication. I am a pretty healthy and a disciplined person. How on earth did i get diabetes?
Well, they tell you in the class. It is hereditary...and on the top of my morning sickness. Still going on at 7 and 1 week pregnant.
The only thing i noticed was my face, hands and feet swollen. It is really a silent killer...
So now i got it under control...after freaking out because it is so scary.
I have a very strict diet (The hardest ever. Even for me who is very disciplined). You have to measure your food and food elements. I eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks. Exercise (walk 30 minutes a day).
Poke myself to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. Ok ...but really not enjoyable...Yuck...I even dream about it...Yuck.
I got it under control and it feels very good. It is automatic. You exercise, eat right. Your blood is balanced.
Instant gratification. The first few times were scary because i would fell my poke test. Then i passed...one test after another...Stress highers your blood sugar. I think it took me some time also to relax.
I feel blessed because i can control it and the knowledge about Gestational diabetes is amazing. think about that. 100 years ago...none of all of this diet and poking...Gosh.
So if you have some Diabetes recipe or experience you want to leave in the comments, i would appreciate it. Right now...I still can't believe i
can't eat any deserts like i used to. The portions are like tiny! Or i can't believe how much i ate before!
I know that some of you don't believe in God. Like my Dad and brothers. I have to tell you, the day i find out i had gestational Diabetes, the sisters from my church showed up. Like that. Out of the blue. I was a mess. With not a lot of support. Horrible. Then, they came and i felt loved. God send this little miracle in one of the worst time of my life. I am surely grateful. Can't deny it. It was a miracle. I got a Priesthood blessing too. It reaffirmed what i had felt for few months now. I have to stay patient and the tribulations will pass.
Thanks to all of you and your support. I know you care. It makes a big difference.
My friends in blog land and Facebook make a big difference in my life.
I was thinking few days ago...well, i am not one of those blogs you visit and cry over the nice house and perfect life. Gosh. LOL
I just got a Turkey. A fresh one. So i can freeze the left over...I am very exited for Thanksgiving.
XOXO
Have a super week-end!!!!
Give me some time to say hi to all of you.
