And the day came...

Today was a big day ! Going to the store to buy bras for Lola who is 10. All her friends have one...So, she has to wear some too.
So here, we are at the store and my Fairy who is 3 is wearing bras on her head around the store....Lola and i looked at each other....???WOW.
  1. I am not afraid of ridicule anymore...my kids did this to me....She can wear it on her head around if she wants too...LOL
  2. My girls are 7 years difference....It just hit me...It is a lot of years....
  3. I don't remember wearing a bra at 10....It is a social thing for sure...And it is fine with me, whatever makes Lola happy makes me happy...
  4. Kids grow too fast...

I remember getting my first bra. The worst was getting my first period.

I remember taking my girls for their first bras - a rite of passage for sure.

Mine turns ten in February and I'm noticing with certain outfits it might not hurt to have a little sports bra! Yikes. I don't want to be here yet!

That is hilarious! I remember getting my first bra, too. Not sure how old I wss, but at the time, they called them "training bras"! I wonder what was being "trained"?!

I also used to wonder why they called them "training bras" - I guess to train the girl wearing them?

What a milestone! I think I was around 10 when I got mine. I remember getting changed for bed that night, and hearing my younger brother approaching, so I shoved my new bra under my pillow. Soon I left to use the bathroom. Just as I was stepping into the bathroom I thought "He's going to find it" - and sure enough, a split second later I saw him running past and down the stairs, swinging a bra in circles over his head.

Brothers.

That is cute and funny! It's strange how we can't wait til we can wear a bra and then later in life, we look for every chance to not wear a bra! ;D

I agree they grow up too fast, and unfortunately peer pressure, and MEDIA pressure do not help.

I was the first of my friends to get a bra, but that was because I was actually developing boobs already, LOL so I wasn't in training bras very long(I think I was just 11, when I got my training bra)...maybe 9 months--then I graduated from AA to A and so on.

Alissa mentions first period, yea I turned 12 in June, got my first period that July, skipped August, then in September got it, when I wasn't expecting it when wearing white pants as a new 7th grader in the junior high.
After a visit to the school nurse, I wore a jacket tied around my waist the rest of the day...so humiliating. (as it had already been noticed be some)

All the things we gals go through!! Jeez :)

Frenchy my sister is 9 years older than me, and it has not been good for us(in HS, she had to come home right away to babysit me...I have yet to hear the end of how she couldn't be in the National Honor Society or other clubs because of me), I wish you better luck. My girls are 5 years apart and it is so-so.

And if you think that is something, wait until you are in the labor room with your daughter who is about to give birth.....a mind blowing experience....I know, I did it.....so just enjoy her growing up now, yes, it does go way too fast....

Oh my, such a special occasion. Gosh, it seems like such a long time ago that I did this with my daughter.
Hugs.

How we want to be like our friends at that age. I had no need for a bra until I was 13, but HAD to have one. I think I even wore it to bed!

OMG, I just asked my 20 year old if she remembered getting her first bra. (I'm sorry to say I had forgotten)and she proceeded to tell me how she was thankful I had taken her to Victoria's Secret to be fitted for a "proper bra" and she loved her first bra and now is a firm believer in buying proper under garments. She just cracked me up. I did not remember being such an influence. Thanks for the prompt for my daughter and I to have a stroll down memory lane.
