Dreaming about orange and fall colors....Love this art...
If you don't know what it is....It is a leek...A classic in French cuisine...Why do i like this vegetable so much?
First it is yummy in cooking....French soup recipe....
Second...It is very fun to replant and grows fast....Cut the root off and place it in a bowl with water....it regrows fast.... Plant it having the old cut above the ground....You will get very soon another full grown plant to cut again....It keeps growing....If you let it it will display a big white flower ball... The seeds are easy to grow too.... It is a Perennial and will show up in spring again...like nothing happened...
I had a flower ball ready to explode...i was exited to take a picture at the old house...Then a deer came by......
You need to try this plant! I love it!
Fall is coming so i will have more recipes with leeks....
And more fall decor...

Turning my thoughts back to the last rays of summer, and hoping for an Indian summer here in the PNW for we have a very long dark and rainy and cloudy winter.

Every since I lived in France, I cook with poireaux. Potage and other soups and sauces just aren't the same without them. But here in the States, at least where I shop, the grocery clerks ALWAYS have to ask what they are before looking up the PLU code. :D

ReplyDeleteI didn't know that leeks were so easy to grow, let alone they'd make a flower! I'm glad to hear you'll be posting more of you leek recipes - I'm using them more and more in my cooking. But they are a dirty onion that you have to really take it apart to clean. Great blog. Thanks!
