My Grand-ma Antoinette...back in Paris

I don't have a lot of great good memories with my Antoinette Grand- ma. She lived in a Poor area around Paris. Stayed in the same apartment for 40 years.... I remember the Sunday diners, she always had Pastries from the "Boulangerie". All colorful and Yummy. It was hard to choose witch one to choose.

I remember her buying me a doll that talks....My parents could not afford it. One Christmas she send it to me. I thought....She has less money than my parents....

another great memory is to go once in the theater to see a movie about Greek Mythologies...

 My Marie Antoinette B-day Party...HERE

What is your favorite memory of your Grand-parents?

  1. Love your memeories...my grandma used to make a tent house for me with sheets and her cloths line, it was big, and then she would haul small pieces of furniture out of her house and put it in my tent house. I would play in there all day! Grandmas are the best! Come say hi :D

  2. where did you find that lovely dress? my favorite memories of my grandparents are that they picked us up everyday after school so that we wouldn't have to go to day care. they also would take us to baseball games and taught us how to cheer for the team and play bingo at the ballpark. they were wonderful and i miss them so much.

  6. What a sweet story and your little fairy princess looks adorable.

I have many wonderful memories of my Grandmom. Her attic was one of them, but she also let me cook for her. We also used to have tea time.

  8. Your memories of your grandmother are so touching, Frenchie. I bet you treasured your doll.

I have very few memories of my grandmothers as they passed away when I was young. That makes me positive that I am going to be the best Nana ever!! :-)

  13. Thanks so much for following along on my little ole blog! I am now your newest follower as well...My Nana was the best piano player I have ever know, we would sit and she would play an elaborate version of There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly and we would sing our hearts out. She was the most caring, engaging, accepting person on earth!

  14. You have some great memories. Your daughter is just too cute for words.

I loved how my one Grandmother always listened intently on whatever I said. She had 19 grandchildren, but had a nice way of making us all feel like we were #1. She was a very postive person.

  15. I found a Madam Alexander doll under my grandmother's bed--dressed in red velvet. Of course, it was supposed to be for Christmas, but I enjoyed it so much in October :) I was the only granddaughter !

  16. that was so intuitive for you to notice that although she had less money, she still bought it for you. I'll bet it made you appreciate it even more. My fondest memory of my grandmother was how she would take care of my grandfather. She paid so much attention to every detail when it came to him.

  17. Oh both of my grandmother's are great cooks! One grandmother goes ONLY by, "Grandmere". (and she is not French - go figure) However, she bakes the best breads! Just thinking of their cooking brings back many memories.

  20. My great Grandma died when I was 18 and my grandma died when I had my third child named after her Antonia.
I have very fond memories of both of them. My great grandma did not throw away wrapping paper, she had a beautiful collection of them in her wardrobe. She also use to treat us to "2 carrés de chocolat Nestlé" if we had been good. I still dream about the taste of that chocolate. It made me feel so special and highly favored.

Thank you for sharing your memories Frenchy.

    Bonne journée. Gros bisous.

  21. Thanks for the nice comment about my craft room and for following me! I've ran into your blog before and really enjoyed it. I have always loved the frenchy style. I've contemplated decorating french but realize I don't know very much about their decor and I think it might be hard to find thrift ways to decorate. But I do enjoy browsing your blog and would be happy to follow!

  22. Grandparents...Sunday dinners, usually midday, with wonderful southern U.S. cooking...collards, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and pie for dessert. I only knew one set of grandparents. They had a wonderful backyard full of little special places and nooks, and flowers, and birds. They had a screened back porch with a glider swing. My grandfather was very business like, and loved to take pictures. my grandmother was petite and sweet...

  26. My grandparent's were difficult. My maternal grandparents were very stoic Dutch immigrants and looking back I realize that my Grandma didn't understand me and so she was tougher on me than my sibs.

My paternal grandma was a paranoid schizophrenic...I have some strange and even funny stories of things that happened when I was with her but not positive memories.

Her husband though was my favorite...he was neat...not good with small children but great as he got older. After I got married, my husband I used to stay with him when we visited family. I still miss him.
