I have lost my dog

Yesterday the kids were playing outside with the dogs...Zacky never came home after that. He has a collar with tags. We live in the woods, cougars, bears, people. Teddy is always with him. Teddy is by himself and it doesn't look good.

I went through a lot of emotions....

I got Zacky less than a year ago, i wanted to have a baby but could not. A cute small dog seemed to be a good option. We got him from the pound. Was i too emotionally attached to him?

I am having a hard time with the loss....losing everything. It's easier to have nothing than to have everything and loose it. Is it worth it? To have a pet and pay the price of loosing it?
I don't know, i Am pretty new to this. Never i though i would be so attached. How do you deal with the grieving?

  1. if/when you know your furry baby's not coming home....

you allow yourself to grieve. the only way OUT of grief is to go through grief...not avoid it...go through it.

i also bought a lot of doggy magazines and read other people's experience. it really helped.

  2. We had a little dog go missing for four days and we live out in the country as well... he just showed up one night...we also had some I think were so cute other people took them in. Your little fellow is adoreable...on another note ...I believe in doggie heaven. It is a comforting thought.

  7. Send a cord out from you heart for him to follow home in case he is lost or someone found him, thinking he was abandoned, and gave him a home. My friend got her dog back after 6 months because of that reason. One of her neighbors spotted Tess a few blocks away in another persons yard.

Heart cords...that is how animals find home again. I will keep good thoughts for his return.

  10. I'm so sorry and sad to hear about this. I will pray that your little boy comes home safe and sound. I can't even imagine what you are going through. Our pets are like children to us. They become a part of our family. I'm so sorry.

  11. Oh my dearest,

I know how you feel. I will say a prayer for Zacky and hope that he shows up. Somehow animals do this to us; we do get attached and it hurts so badly when they are in distress. My heart goes out to you sweet one.

Let us know immediately what happens.

  12. I'm so sorry--I'm keeping my
    fingers crossed that he comes
    back home safe & sound.

Pets are so worth the pain
of losing them. I always tell
    myself that I'll never get
    another dog when one dies,
    but I always get another,
even if it takes a few years.

  17. Oh, i do hope he does come home. You never know, he might just have followed someone else for a snack or attention. But if he does not return you know he had a lovely life with you and will be missed and mourned. And yes, it is worth it to love an animal, or person and risk that hurt. Love is worth that, it is!

Your post made me get teary eyed! I'm an animal lover, have 2 dogs and a cat and losing one is never easy. Maybe he will still be found, you shouldn't give up. But if/when there is no hope just remember all the happy times you shared with your little pup. I think animals add so much to a family! Marcia
